Patio umbrella
Because the top of a patio
umbrella is not usually visible to the people who use it most often,
it can be difficult for someone to remember that he or she must clean
this umbrella from time to time. However, the fact is that these umbrellas
can get very dirty and if they are not cleaned from time to time they
will be ruined. In order to clean a patio umbrella:
• Put down a tarp – A large tarp should
first be laid on the ground. This tarp should be larger than the umbrella
is after it has been opened up. Then, remove the patio umbrella from
the table, open it up and place it on its side on top of the tarp.
• Hose it down – Take a water hose and
spray water all over the patio umbrella. Anyone who does not own a hose
can instead pour clean water from a bucket onto the umbrella. It might
help if a second person holds the umbrella in place to make sure that
the stream of water does not move it off of the tarp.
• Soap it – Grab a bucket and fill it
with warm water mixed with a mild detergent. Dishwashing soap often
works well. Some of the more mild types of laundry detergent might work
well also.
• Scrub it – Next, take a sponge, dip
it in the bucket and begin to scrub the patio umbrella in those areas
where there are visible, tough-to-remove stains. Someone who has not
cleaned his patio umbrella in a while might need to scrub pretty hard
in some places.
• Rinse it – After it has been satisfactorily
scrubbed, the patio umbrella can be stood back up and opened up in the
sunlight to dry.
